With the State of Play tonight and the game launching in a month, it feels weird not to have a dedicated topic for GT7. I know there are not a whole lot of fans of the game in this forum, but it will be nice to have a discussion in 1 place about it.

In a short video 2 days ago on the Facebook page of Playstation, I saw a few of my favourite cars ever being present: Ferrari F40, Ferrari F50 and a Lamborghini Countach.
I hope the classic Lancias are present as well - the Stratos and Delta Integrale.
I also really hope the "Seattle" and "Grand Valley" tracks return.
For some reason I really liked Seattle. It had some really tricky corners, two very nice chicanes and I loved the climb with the jumps after turn 3.
As for the Grand Valley - it had a great mixture of some of the best turns in real world tracks.

What are you people looking for most in the game? GT3 was the last Gran Turismo I played and back in the day I really enjoyed the Endurance races. Nowadays though it will be hard to assign a couple of hours straight to do a single race.

I haven't really played a GT game since the first one, I really got into it though. I do have my eye on this instalment! I thought Sport was pretty dull for what it was.

Could be the first racing game I buy in a long time. Haven't been into racing games for years but I have actually been fancying one lately.

Hoping GT7 will have a similar progression system from when I last played, with different licenses and working your way up the car ladder.

I'm not buying it but I'll watch the SoP. Interested in the tech and stuff, it looks nice.

I’m not really a ‘racer’… but I’m at the very least curious about GT7. Last one I played was GT2 on the PS2… and I remember thinking it really good.

I'm looking forward to the state of play. Haven't pre-ordered yet but this could sway me. Not bought any driving games for a few years as I no longer have a racing wheel, but I'm hoping the dualsense and haptics will help with the immersion on this.

I do like the odd racer here and there. I did own a Logitech wheel at one point and enjoyed a GT game back in the day but since then I think my tastes have changed and I'm more into a fun arcade style racer. Will GT7 be overkill for me? I'll watch the SoP though just to see what the deal is as it's a great looking game.

A rare feeling of genuine hype for this and I'm trying to keep my excitement in check as March 4th approaches.

I'm not bothered about the SoP as it'll be pleasant to do a bit of self-discovery when I get the game.

I wasn't the biggest fan of GT Sport due to the online focus but probably still spent around 1000 hours on it (which for me is borderline obscene) and really got into the creation side on things, especially the scapes mode.

It's practically impossible for Polyphony to fulfill my dream car wishlist but I've already noticed a few new, GT Sport crossovers and previous game returnees so that's cool. And since it's technically a "live-service" game (ooh-er) we'll be getting new cars, events and other types of content for a long time after release. Can't wait!

@Iver You are not the biggest fan of GT Sport but you spent a 1000 hours playing it?! 😲😳🤯🤣

We are now in a world of people being offended for other people who they think should be offended, who arent offended.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

@JohnnyShoulder It's only been out over 5 years! But to answer you directly, I'd argue it's the weakest game in the series. Or certainly was at launch, it's actually much better now. I still really like the game however as I'm a massive GT series fan since day one of the original game.

@Iver Out of curiosity - what's your dream car wishlist?

As for the people looking for a more arcade like racer - I think the earlier GTs (1 and 2 for sure) had an Arcade mode, no idea whether that was still the case in later entries. But to be honest I doubt something like that will be included in GT7 as I think the FIA GT series will carry on on the new game and it will likely be as sim like as possible.
I always preferred these myself as on arcade racers I tend to brake too much before every corner. I guess my brain tells me I need to slow in order to make it out of the corner, while that is not the case. In Dirt 5 as the most recent example it took me awhile to adjust as corners that could be taken flatout, I was braking.
Although I did love Test Drive Unlimited when it came out - an open world works quite well for an arcade racer. Forza Horizon 5 actually looks really good as I like the Mexico setting. The closest thing we'll get to Forza on PS seems to be the new Test Drive.

Sport was kinda a disappointment other than Scapes so I’m hoping for just a really bulky single player mode. I’ve played 1, 3 and 5 and they were great in different ways. If I had a dream feature it would be more cups based around historical cars. I want to race Ford Model-Ts

I love GT, I actually got so into the livery editor of sport I designed a persona 5 special edition. And it looks amazing! Took about 2 weeks.

It's single player component was lacking in all honesty. You did have some stuff to do but it really boiled down to time trials. I really hope 7 gives us a proper carpg but doesn't go the Forza horizon way of owning 300plus cars in your garage and instead you build up a solid 10-16 in your own image. One can wish, but I doubt after horizons success that it's gonna happen.

Yeah, I'm still not getting this myself but if I had to guess - if you're an actual car enthusiast, this is probably the game to get.

@Voltan I’d say if you’re properly into cars then this is the best game out there. Whereas if you’re looking for a slightly more ‘fun’ racing game then Forza Horizon is the best one for that. Both series have their advantages!

Not that I needed any more reasons to get it, but the presentation was great and the game is shaping up to be the ultimate racing game. I will watch the 4k version of the video tomorrow as watching the stream, the quality is not great.

@nessisonett Yeah, I imagine Forza would be more my speed but I know some people who know their car stuff and I'm pretty sure this is exactly what they'd want from a car game.

I'm not sure about the replays to music and driving to the music thing, but wow it looked great. Can see more time being spent reading the history, in scapes, tuning etc than actually racing. So much of that was photo realistic.
