Feel free to copy me in if any games are missing. Obviously this will be updating virtually daily.
Isn't secret of mana coming in january? Also kingdom hearts 3 LMAO.
Did they ever confirm a 2018 release date for TLOU2? I think it's still TBD.
Jurassic World Evolution is summer 2018 by the way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWagBjDMwTU
Thanks, @get2sammyb! I love when you make these lists.
I will be getting:
Monster Hunter World
Shadow of the Colossus
Detroit: Become Human
Vampyr
The Last of Us: Part II
I might be getting:
God of War
Days Gone
Spider-Man
Red Dead Redemption 2 (This would be on my buy list, but I'll wait and see how the micro-transaction situation turns out)
Beyond Good and Evil 2
@get2sammyb
Looks like Ni no Kuni needs to be moved.
Monster Hunter World, Shadow of the Colossus, Spider-Man and Red Dead Redemption are the big must haves for me, but there's plenty of other interesting games on this list that are tempting.
The amount games that I will buy in 2018 is scary..
@get2sammyb Thanks for jinxing the NNK2 date by putting it second on this well timed list.
I have to say I forgot any games in 2018 even had "Dates", I thought they were all just "early" "late" or simply "2018". Or not even that. I think instead of "Tentative" you could have put - 2018, 2019 and beyond. BG&E2 isn't coming out until after Half Life 3, I've been waiting since 2008.
Is Death Stranding in there somewhere or do even you not have faith in that one? That tentative list is a bit random, can't you get an unpaid intern to alphabetize it?
Bonus points for including Starlink, I was so sure you would forget that one.
You should include "Lego videogame based on tv/movie licensed franchise". They wont' skip an entire year, no way, no how. Next June has Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World 2 in theaters. Disney owns Pixar so another dino game?
@rjejr Yes, it should be alphabetized I agree. Tech issue which should be easily fixed, I imagine.
@KirbyTheVampire remember bro , microtransactions is optional . As long as it doesn't break the game we should be good .
@oatmealwarrior92 While that is true, I never want to support pay to win practices. If it's just cosmetics and stuff, that's fine, but if they truly give you an advantage over others, I might have to skip it.
Cheers for the list but I'll still be struggling with last year's and this year's games before I can even think about next year's...although while I'm here I may as well say that Moss and Far Cry 5,Dragon Quest,Detroit,Spiderman,Days Gone,God Of War,Shadow Of The Collossus and Dragons Crown are all day one
@KirbyTheVampire To be honest, I doubt anyone will be getting TLOU 2 in 2018
Anyway, games I'm considering:
God Of War
Detroit: Become Human
Monster Hunter World
Dreams (a definite if it's out)
Code Vein
Darksiders 3
Far Cry 5
Fe
We Happy Few
Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night
A lot of these games look pretty good, but there aren't any must buys for me next year, so I'm not that excited at the moment. And despite being an absolute masterpiece, SotC doesn't really excite me as I have it on PS2 and PS3.
I better get another few jobs...
@ThroughTheIris56 Yeah, wouldn't surprise me.
So far I only want Days Gone & RDR2!
My heart belongs to January 26th.
@get2sammyb i’m fairly sure detroit become human got a spring 2018 release window at the end of the Paris Games Week trailer
I want it all...
I WANT IT ALL...
I WANT IT ALL...
AND I WANT THEM NOOOOW!! (8)
@JoeBlogs That's all true, but hey, people can whine about micro-transactions all they want, but if they still buy the games that include them, nothing will change aside from more and more games getting micro-transactions because people are willing to buy them.
Just in the first three months it's crazy. Right now I plan on picking up:
January - Monster Hunter World
February - Far Cry 5, Shadow of the Colossus
March - Yakuza 6, MLB The Show 18
Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Darksiders III are definites and, if it does make 2018, so is The Last of Us Part II (my second most-anticipated game after Spider-Man). Possible purchases are Days Gone and God of War.
Updated.
I will be shocked if The Last of Us Part 2 actually comes out in 2018.
I'm surprised that God of War does not have a date yet. I expected that to be announced at PSX. I still expect Spider-Man in the first half of the year, so hopefully that gets a date soon as well.
@get2sammyb How is it updated if you still haven't fixed TLOU2?
Detroit is Q1/Q2 iirc.
1.God of war. 2 .ni no kuni. 3 .days gone.4.Spiderman.5.Detroit. 6.kingdom hearts 3.7.red dead redemption.8.darksiders 3.9.far cry 5.10.code vein.11.monster hunter world.that's my list in order word up son.
So many PS4 releases again and many exclusives as well.
Shadow of the Colossus is coming really soon, this is day one.
I really hope 2018 is a better year for gaming.
What about Blood and Truth and also Firewall?
This reminds me that I still need to preorder Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth- Hacker's Memory to ensure a physical copy.
Always preorder niche JRPGs.
@get2sammyb No Gravel in the US or it's the same date worldwide?
Not too excited for 2018 as there aren't a lot of releases I'm looking forward to, I can guarantee TLOU2 is not coming out next year. Nevertheless I am interested in the following:
Soulcalibur VI
God Of War
Dreams
Code Vein
Darksiders 3
Monster Hunter World
Megaman 11
Vane
Death's Gambit
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Lost Soul Aside
@delukze Fixed!
@ThroughTheIris56 That looks like a lot to me.
Oh man there's at least 22 games on that list that I'd love to play. 2018 is shaping up to be cracking year for gaming!
@get2sammyb Lol I know, but a lot of them I'm only partially interested in, not many that I'm majorly anticipating . Though in fairness since I looked through the article, there were a lot more games I was looking forward than I originally thought.
Well this just sucks! I already have a large backlog of games, many from 2017 that I have yet to get and now I see a ton more for 2018!!!! Man, this system is killing with games!!!! Glad there's a Devil May Cry collection coming, as my PS3 decided to take a dive for the worst.
Shouldn't Kingdom Hearts 3 be on there, or did I miss it????
@get2sammyb Do you know what ever happened to the Toe Jam And Earl game that was in the works a few years ago? Is that ever getting released, or was it canned?
I had forgotten about Wolf Among Us 2. The first one is probably the best Telltale game.
The walking Dead final season I think I'll wait till they now do a complete disc collection now (hope the trophy list is together too). The last of us part 2, days gone, ace combat 7, Spiderman god 2018 is going to be a good year
-Visage !!!!! -allison rd?! -the hum abductions - -SF 30th anniversary. -TLOU2 -days gone.
-
Assassins Creed: Origins The Curse of the Pharaohs releases March 6th.
That’s the final expansion for Origins.
Going to be an incredible year. And this is just what's known in January.
@get2sammyb ''The Last of Us: Part II (PS4) - 2018''
I'm going to nag you about this until you tell me where you actually got this from
TOOOOO MANNNNNNY GAAAAAMEZ.....!!! Like, seriously. When I was younger and had tons of free time, I could finish 2-3 games per month, but now I'm lucky if I complete 5-6 in a year. Ugh, I'll never be able to keep up, let alone make a dent in my backlog. AAAAUUUGGGHHH!!!
Maybe it’s just me and my personal impressions, but February looks to be still open for someone to dominate. March is already pretty packed. If one or more of these games without a date could get their game out in the latter part of Feb, they only need to worry about going up against Metal Gear Survive. Otherwise, they are going to have to compete with GoW, Spiderman, RDR2, Detroit, TLoU2 and many more later in the year.
@Th3solution TLOU2 isn't coming out this year.
@Octane Yeah, I thought that was still up in the air. The article still has it under 2018 (tentative), so I guess the towers are being optimistic. Still, even with TLoU moved to 2019, just seems like the year is going to be back loaded a bit. Most of the biggest titles don’t have release dates and I fear they will all be crunched into the summer and holiday season and may end up cannibalizing each other’s sales. Especially the exclusives — if Dreams, Detroit, Spiderman, and Days Gone drop in the same quarter with Red Dead, it will adversely affect everyone’s sales. Referencing the recent heated discussion about single player games selling poorly (whether one agrees with this concern or not) I want these games to sell well to keep strong AAA SP games in development. I just hope they get spread out a little bit through the year.
@Th3solution I don't think it's moved to 2019, it was never confirmed for this year IIRC.
GOW will come in March, even though they're hesitant to release any information on the exact date. There's a Marvel film coming out in May, so I think Spider-Man will launch around that time. Followed by Detroit (which I believe is also slated for the first half of 2018). I don't think it matters when they release Dreams, the people that are interested are going to pick it up regardless of release date. Though it would make sense to release it sometime during summer, so that anyone picking it up during the holidays can enjoy plenty of user-created content. Days Gone seems like a September/October game to me, simply because we know so little about it.
Next year will start strong with Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part II I think.
@Octane Put Red Dead in June/July and that kind of a schedule would work out well. (Although Far Cry and Yakuza may be drown out by GoW in March.). Then sprinkle in a few of the more niche titles like Shenmue, Vampyr, and Valkeria throughout the year and we’re set!
Too many games, my wish-list for this year huge. I can't possibly afford them all at launch, but will get them at some point.
Lost Sphear
Dynasty Warriors 9
Gravel
Monster Hunter: World
Shadow Of The Colossus
The Seven Deadly Sins: Knights of Britannia
Secret of Mana
Yakuza 6
Valkyria Chronicles 4
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
God of War
Days Gone
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
Spider-Man
The Last of Us: Part II
Lost Soul Aside
BioMutant
Code Vein
Dakar 18
Hey. @get2sammyb Here is some games I think you should ad to this list.
Railway Empire (January 26th release date on steam)
Sea of thieves (March 20, 2018)
The Escapists 2 for the Switch
Kirby Battle Royale (Sometime in january 2018 i believe)
Fortnite (full release)
@get2sammy
Children of Morta (tentative 2018)
I'm still looking forward to The Last of Us: Part II (PS4) - 2018
Bring on God of War and The Last of Us II! Although I have my doubts about the ladder being this year.
The games I want have non-specific release dates'
Spiderman
Ace Combat 7
Death's Gambit
EDF Iron Rain
@get2sammyb
Is the Spyro trilogy official enough to be on the list, I thought it was still an unsubstantiated rumour, which to me isn't date worthy, even if the leaks and rumours suggest late 2018.
If Spyro is official enough then Lego Incredibles can probably be on the list as that's likely out in June to correspond w/ the movie. Lego DC Villains is also rumoured for the holiday.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2018/03/lego_the_incredibles_all_but_confirmed_for_ps4_thanks_to_toy_packaging
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/01/rumour_lego_dc_super_villains_and_lego_incredibles_2_could_be_on_their_way
Hmm,never heard of a majority of these..Cant say i am that hyped about this list tbh.Hoping to see some cool FP games from indie devs,a solid Blockbuster FPS From Sony would be nice one day (RESISTANCE 4!!!)
This is the PS4 year. I need so many of these. Must buy: God of War, Red Dead, Spider-Man, The Last of Us 2
@JordanFireStar
The listings are for the PS4. It's in the title of the article.
God of war, Detroit, Spider-Man, Last of us, Shadow of the Colossus ....meanwhile gt sport online championships....no chance
And I don’t count any multiplats or second tier games or independent ones. Thats really insane tempo!
I feel like half of the tentative 2018 games really are tentative for 2019. Which is fine if PS5 doesn't launch until 2020, they'll need games all year and into most of 2020 as well.
Is KH3 on this page somewhere, I couldn't find it. Has to be either tentative 2018 or 2019 by now.
Sony could probably fill a 90 minute E3 just dating all of these games.
I wonder if KH3 will ever get on this list...
@get2sammyb Owlboy is already out (10th April). Had a launch discount too (20%).
@Fight_Teza_Fight I blame @Quintumply for that. Will fix now.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Actually no, @Quintumply is correct. That second listing is for the retail release.
@get2sammyb Ah I see. Never mind then! Did pick the game up digital last week.
All these different releases must be hard to keep up with!
@Fight_Teza_Fight Just a bit.
Is tlou2 really 2018?
you guys missed sonic mania (retail) for August 28th — same date as yakuza kiwami 2
@get2sammyb Sammy, fix this!
The Last of Us: Part II (PS4) - 2018
Beyond Good & Evil 2 (PS4) - 2018
For me personally there is a lull in June, July, and August. Then things get crazy.
Why is The Last of Us listed as a 2018 release? Isn't that a bit optimistic?
@get2sammyb Tera is out already, listet under 2018 (Tentative)
SF 30th Anniversary!!! Wooo!
Also ... Ahhh.... Err..... Snk heroines and RED DEAD!!!
And any horror games that hopefully get released.
MotoGP18 and MXGP Pro will arrive in June.
@get2sammyb Where's my kingdom hearts 3 sammy? Please don't exclude him... don't make me suffer like this 😖😞
it seems like I have to save more persistently, a lot of games that I want
@Fight_Teza_Fight I also saw that and was wondering because I got it digital as well. Good game.
@Octane I'm gonna save ya the trouble and repost this from last time.
@get2sammyb Sammy, fix this!
The Last of Us: Part II (PS4) - 2018
Beyond Good & Evil 2 (PS4) - 2018
Even if TLOU2 was a slight maybe for 2018, BG&E2 is a slight maybe for 2019.
Also probably needing to be off the 2018 list is Darksiders 3. Even if it has a 2018 date that I missed it's too quiet so 2019 if that.
On the bright side, the next time this article repost should be next month after E3 so most of that long 2018 list should be either dated or 2019.
@rjejr Thanks, haha!
@get2sammyb MotoGP 18 launches on June 7th.
According to trophies.de We Happy Few will be released on August 13, 2018.
http://www.trophies.de/ps4-news/veroeffentlichungstermin-fuer-we-happy-few-geleakt-94697.html
I want release dates for Erica, Call of Cthulhu, we Happy Few, RE 2 Remake and the Last of Us Part II!
@get2sammyb Ride 3 is launching November 8, 2018.
I feel sorry for @get2sammyb, gonna be updating this page and several others by the end of E3.
Nothing for me from now till September.
I think Valkyria Chronicles 4's release date is Oct 16th, 2018.
@get2Sammyb, Overkill's: The Walking Dead launches November 6, 2018. Nice running list by the way.
@mizrhappy Thanks!
@get2sammyb @rjejr ''The Last of Us: Part II (PS4) - 2019''
@Octane This E3 has set our requirement for joy very low hasn't it.
They left out the other half of your original complaint though.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 (PS4) - 2018
I mean, come on man, is that even realistically 2019 at this point?
Wait...wut? How did I miss that Kingdom Hearts 3 is out in January?!
I've never played any of those games (aside from a couple hours of the first) and my wife is gonna wanna play through 3 so...to catch up, I think I'll just watch all ~5 previous games on YouTube insteada playing them!
@rjejr Small steps
Jurassic World Evolution (digital) came out on the 12th.
I mean February 22nd 2019 is just absurd lol.
Forgot about BioMutant. Has there been anything mentioned since last year? Can't even remember who's making it.
@ArkhamKnerd Experiment 101 which has been acquired by THQ Nordic. It was set for 2018 but has been delayed to early 2019
Less than three months til Spider-Man BOIIIISSSSS!!!
Updated!
Man, we still don’t know a date for Code Vein. First July, then September, and now just a vague 2019. And Dreams... the game in eternal production, still not even a hint of a date. * sigh *
I'm going to force myself not to buy any more games until I beat some of the ones I have. Namely Dragon quest XI and I preordered Hollow Knight.
@kyleforrester87 I saw that u picked up DQXI, u like?
In terms of production, I'm pretty sure The Last of Us Part II is far behind Death Stranding (I love both and can't wait)
It really upsets me to see TLOU2 in 2019 tentative list and not Death Stranding. Kojima even gave us hint that it might be coming out in 2018 or early 2019 so...
@get2sammyb I do believe Wreckfest is due to release November 20th too, it is missing from the list.
@ellsworth004 2-3 hours in, things went a bit south and I am oddly concerned for Gemma - It does seem like a good RPG, I'm always a little weary of games like this as I can either love them (Xenoblade Chronicles 2) or not really get on with them (FF12, Ys). Music is a big deal for me in RPG's and while DQ11 has a jaunty enough sound track so far it's nothing like XBC2's. But the characters seem good and the cutscenes are really well animated, it really pulls you in.
So yeah, hopes are high but I need to give it a few more hours and meet some more party members I think!
@kyleforrester87 im still early in as well, I'll say this for it, this is the first turned based rpg I have liked in awhile. It may be from how much I like 8, but so far it's pretty fun. But from what I've read its very long, hope I don't get bored with it. I really like how the maps are done. FF12 is my favorite FF! Seriously though I think I liked 12 so much because of how much different it was than any other rpg. I also played alot of mmorpgs around the same time 12 was released so maybe that's the reason.
@ellsworth004 Thats the thing with these huge RPG's, sometimes they just come along at the right time in your life. I wonder if I'd have enjoyed XBC2 as much if I tried playing it over this summer - probably not as I had so much else going on!
I hope DQ11 keeps me hooked though.
I've got Call of Cthulhu and Ride 3 on pre-order already.
World of Final Fantasy Maxima, The Last Remnant Remastered and Tokyo Xanadu EX+ are also on my wishlist.
@get2sammyb
Is Kingdom Hearts: The Story so Far really coming to the UK?
I have only seen announcement for the US and I can't UK pre-order anywhere (amazon, ps store, square enix) and the game is already available for pre-order in the US.
Ooh, didn’t notice Gungrave VR before. That could be pretty good.
Even if Sony has now announced all the 1st-party games that the PS4 will be getting. This list gives me confidence that there will be enough third party games to keep me amused for quite some time.
I hope biomutant is good, im liking the looks of it.
Buts thats 2019... 😞
Not much I'm particularly excited about for the rest of 2018 at the moment, but early 2019 is looking good!
It's a new year!
I would possibley remove The Wolf Among Us 2...
you don't have Dreams on the list for 2019?! surely they've got to release it next year, or it's going to be a PS5 title.
@leucocyte not to mention that demo that we are still getting this year according to the devs.
I'm calling it right now; either REmake 2 or the outer world's as next year's GOTY
@Rudy_Manchego Also Beyond Good & Evil 2. No way that is coming in 2019.
Who ever said TLOU II is 2019 anyway? Just like many games, it's a shame that when they do finally formally announce a release date every one, the press included, talk about delay.
death stranding and ghost of tsushima are missing and should be added under 2019 tentative. if last of us 2 is under 2019 tentative, why aren't the those games?
@JJ2 considering how long it has been in development, there is a pretty good chance it will release next year. if not, it is only because day's gone is too similar to it thematically. sony may opt to push last of us 2 to q1 2020. i wouldn't be surprised by that move.
@ironcrow86 the only way resi 2 is goty is if last of us 2 doesn't release in 2019
ghost of tsushima could be another threat as well, and who knows, maybe cyberpunk will rear its head as a late 2019 release???
@Porco never really cared for the last of us, cyberpunk just reminds me too much of Deus ex and yeah GoT does look pretty swish...hell of a lot better that shadows dies twice tbh
January is one hell of a month on PS4.
@Porco
Nope.
That Days Gone / TLOU II don't put them close narrative is a fantasy.
If anything, TLOU II is the one game they specifically say the trailer was only to please the fans but it was very, very early dev. I'd bet Death Stranding will be out before but, again. Its just fantasy conjecture. In all good common sense, TLOU II is set to be the Swan song and just like TLOU I release the same year the new gen arrives. Imho
Edit
And this is exactly what I'm talking about:
'may opt to push last of us 2' and the narrative that the game is delayed will be accepted by most people who don't question anything. It's pure fantasy
Ace Combat 7
Trials Rising
Crash Team Racing
Control
EDF: Iron Rain
That's what I'm looking forward to.
@Porco Because Sammy likes TLOU more than Ghost and Death Stranding
@ironcrow86 definitely Resident Evil 2 for GOTY 😁
Actually that is the only game I'm definitely buying that's confirmed for next year, though CTR is almost certain but that's it so far
@JJ2 i disagree about your point on tlou2 and days gone NOT being similar thematically. they both feature a depressing atmosphere and "zombies". that is all you need to be similar in my books. it makes no sense to release them close together and most people would agree about that.
@Octane Is it too late or too soon to start suggesting TLoU2 for 2020?
I still don't expect BG&E2 before 2020, on PS5.
I agree w/ Octane @Porco sammy just likes TLoU2 more than Death Stranding or Ghosts to leave those two off the list. Ghosts might even release before TLoU2. I don't think DS is ever releasing it's just an insane tech demo - so I can't say that one will be first.
On a positive note, I actually believe Dreams will release in 2019. But after they announce the PS5 and PSVR2 so nobody will care.
@rjejr I think both of them will release before TLOU2.
Anyway, yeah BG&E2 isn't coming next year. Even 2020 is doubtful if you ask me.
@Porco
Theres simply 0 chance for these two games to release close in any stretch of imagination. Simple as that. The whole ' its because they are similar' that they wont release close doesnt even make sense.
I do think they are not 'similar' at all but theres no point discussing it relatng to release date
@rjejr
I do think Ghost is definitely for next year. Theres been a lot of buzz lately about Death Stranding and the game seems to be playable. Might surprise everyone how well its doing.
@Octane I can see BG&E2 suffering from "generation syndrome". It will be ready for PS4 in 2020 but they'll withhold it until 2021 b/c it will be a better experience on PS5 and X2 Scarlet. Maybe this gen will get the "no online" version or something.
@JJ2 Death Stranding releasing on PS4 ever and being well received will impress me. I don't see how it can possibly live up to this much hype. Though that's partly unfair bc/ any game relasing soon will ahev to live up to God of WAr adn RDR2, and neither Spiderman nor LAra Croft could hardly get a mention during the Game Awards. So th ebar si alreday set relaly high. And if Death stranding releses any time near TLoU2 in the next two years it will ahev that comparison to deal with as well.
Best bet for both Death Stranding and BG&E2 are to be next gen launch titles, that way if they aren't good they can go with the "early on a new console" excuse and they'll have less competition. TLoU2 will be well received whenever, same for Ghosts, whenever, wherever, they don't need to wait.
Release dates for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (January 22, 2019) and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II (March 19, 2019) on Amazon.
@rjejr
Spiderman did get mentioned.
But your talking about the critics here. It's not that important. Gamers will welcome good entertaining games and I'm not sure DS has that much hype with gamers. Most people actually expect a weird game. They won't see it coming.
The one game with high expectation is TLOU II but the only comparison will be will TLOU. Now if you mean big sites like Eurogamer which compared Infamous SS to GTA V, yes you can expect these silly comparisons.
Edit, I just remembered lately Eurogamer compared Spyro to Dark Soul which is funny haha
Days Gone will no doubt be a flop and a disaster
I'm wagering Ghost will be too since Sucker Punch is a mediocre studio.
Perhaps they should go back to making Sly Pooper games since that was actually a good series.
Crap, there was me thinking I there wasn't much on my radar for next year so far. Turns out I forgot an awful lot. I mean conservatively speaking, I'd be very interested in:
Resi 2
Catherine
DMC5
Sekiro
Crash Team Racing
Shenmue 3
Bloodstained
Dreams
Judgement
The Last of Us 2
Ghost of Tsushima
Death Stranding
Honestly, that's easily more than I'll manage to play in 2019. Choosing from all these will have to be pretty brutal!
@Porco even though I'm (mildly) excited for all three games in the cover photo of this article, it makes me feel depressed already.
Guess I'll have my switch and shenmue 3 as pallet cleansers.
As if my backlog wasn't big enough there's quite a few that I'm interested for next year!
Got Metro Exodus on pre order, might have to try and hold off on some of the others like Resi 2 and Sekiro until later in the year and I've managed to finish some more from this year.
Kind of interested in Days Gone, but will have to see what it's actually like when it releases.
Days Gone, TLOU2, and Far Cry New Dawn for me.
I thought Overkill's The Walking Dead was already out... IGN have had a pretty unfavourable review up since mod-November.
Still can't believe Shenmue III is on that list!
First game I'll be buying is Onimusha HD. Properly excited about Resi 2, Dirt Rally 2 and Bloodstained as well.
@JJ2 There are always going to be comparisons. But I do think a game like Death Stranding would be viewed better as a PS5 launch title rather than a PS4 swan song.
Of course if it turns out PS5 is just a PS4 New Pro, meaning it plays all PS4 games but also PS5 games - like the New 3DS - then people won't have to buy whatever it is that's released on PS5, they can just keep playing PS4 games in uprezed 4k or whatever the PS5 will do to them.
But there is always extra excitement from a new console launch - Ninteod was selling games like 1 2 Switch and Snipperclips alongside Zelda, neither of which would sell very well now - and I think that excitement woudl help Death Stranding more than say another Uncharted, Tomb Raider or God of War, which would just sell on it's own.
And I didn't mean to knock Spiderman, just that maybe last year or next year it might have received a few more awards, not having to go up against GoW and RDR2. The first year of a new console is usually a little barren - Switch changed that with it's held back Wii U Games - and that would benefit DS more than other known games. New IP are always a tough sell, hence GoW, RDR2, and all the other never ending sequels from Uncharted, Tomb Raider, AC, etc.
@rjejr
Yea I thought for a while that DS might as well be PS5 exclusive but I more and more have the feeling its not a revolutionary game but more like has a fancy premise and approach to multiplayer games. Its going to be on ps4 alright. I do hope to see PS5 exclusives though because it would be a shame not to take advantage of the hardware which I think is really new gen.
@JJ2 Guess we'll find out when Sony finally decides to break it's silence, before they break sammy hopefully.
The Wolf Among Us 2 will have to be removed...RIP Telltale.
I was never a huge TT fan, but I liked the style of The Wolf Among Us quite a bit, and the writing was solid.
Hi I'm new here but I would like to make a request for my growing up game I played a lot when I was a kid that game is my boy croc I would buy that in a heartbeat the croc series HD Remake/Remaster
Still no final fantasy 7 remake. The only reason I bought a ps4!
this is my schedule so far:
january;
The Walking Dead: The Final Season - Episode 3
Resident Evil 2
feb;
Far Cry: New Dawn
Steins;Gate Elite
march;
Devil May Cry 5
Assassin's Creed III Remastered
april;
Days Gone
August;
Shenmue III
nothing else planned yet.
@get2sammyb A slight error, but The Wolf Among Us 2 was cancelled after Telltale Games initiated their large scale employee layoff, and subsequently went bankrupt. Same with their Stranger Things game
All I'm looking forward to is CTR! Cannot wait, loved that game as a kid.
@BlueBlur101 Will update the database, thanks!
I will be picking up RE2 on the release date. Days Gone, Bloodstained, Metro: Exodus, Medieval I will definitely be getting. Babylon's Fall and Plague Tale could be good, but I need more information.
I wanted to add I found out about this site a month ago and have been lurking since then, you guys do a fantastic job and this is now my one stop shop for all things PS. Keep it up!
@get2sammyb Read somewhere last week that Lapis x Labyrinth has a release date of 28th May North America/31st May Europe. Just googled NISA's Twitter which says the same.
@MistressTonberry Thank you!
@get2sammyb I can't believe you updated an article from 2017. I wonder what percent of games from the original post still aren't out? 😂
Well I was wrong about Darksiders 3, it did release in 2018, and the PS5 is still no where in site, and Death Stranding looks likely to release before both Ghosts and TLOU2, so I'm leaving all future prognostication to @Octane as I'm a mess. At least KH3 finally released.
Oh, BG&E2 still won't be out in 2019, probably not on this Gen, I feel pretty good about that.
@rjejr Sammy says BGE2 is coming; I bet he's a spy at Ubisoft HQ
@Octane Well he just admitted to being a spy somewhere, so if he says it's coming, I'm not betting against a man w/ inside information. 'bout time he got some too, hes' been doing this for a decade. 😎
"I’m going to be honest with you: I’d already heard that Dreams was going to launch in Early Access, so I’ve had a little longer than everyone else to wrap my head around the idea."
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2019/02/soapbox_why_early_access_is_ideal_for_dreams
@rjejr Sammy has his own little birds
@Octane I don't know, sammy's more Baelish than Varys. Maybe PS tower is a house of ill repute. Would explain why he's a Patriot's fan. 🤣
For sure Sekiro, and MLB 19 the show. Possibly Rage 2 as well
@get2sammyb I believe "Outward" is due to launch on 23rd March. Surprised there has been nothing about it on PS to be honest. An interesting looking game.
Third party games & JRPGs are the only reason I went with a PS4. Not looking forward to any of these first party exclusives.
@get2sammyb any news about Nioh 2? A rumour/whisper, i'll take anything! Thx for the list all the same
Ys IX - 9/26 (Japan)
Shin Sakura Taisen - Winter 2019 (Japan)
i know you put the western release for Sakura Taisen already, but thought i'd throw in the JPN release anyways.
Why the f*** is Death Stranding in the main pic and not a single thing is mentioned about it?
Please mind the language - Quintumply
Not a great rest of the year... looks like Dreams and Concrete Genie are about it for me. More time for the backlog is good though.
Praey for the Gods is also coming this year, which I'm looking forward to. Also, that "Away" game that was shown off in the last PlayStation Direct.
Team Sonic, Crash Team Racing, Warhammer: Chaosbane.
Maybe ESO:Elsweyr but only if ZOS revert their recent catastrophic racial imbalances.
Maybe Monster Hunter World: Iceborne but I'm waiting for 2020 to come out because the game I'm really trying to get is Persona 5 the royal.
Where is nioh 2? Did I miss it?
@Stygg ok.... why so angry?
Remnant: From the Ashes was also released this month. Getting decent reviews.
@KirbyTheVampire God of war has just hin the the classics range I think so 14.99 is a bargain for that, especially as you can get it with the "only on playstation" sleeve from GAME
Where is Dusk Diver?
@get2sammyb
Did Gorn for psvr get a mention? There's a lot of info here.
Updated for 2020. Please let me know if there's anything missing.
FFVIIR. Resident Evil 3. Cyberpunk 2077. The Last Of Us Part 2.
Oh boy...
@get2sammyb You missed La-Mulana 1 & 2 Collection. It releases on on PS4 on March 17th in North America and March 20th in Europe.
2020 (Tentative) Planet Coaster
Ah the last year of a generation time for Cyberpunk and Backlog for the whole year.
@get2sammyb
I don't see Biomutant on the list.
Also Conan Chop Chop 25 February
Ohh boy here we go, finally the year of The Last of Us: Part II. Everything else is just icing on the cake for me.
Well, I pitty the games that are release in April next to Cyberpunk..
Dreams and TLoU2 only for me. Ghost of Tsushima and Cyberpunk are 'wait and see'.. certainly not interested enough in either to buy them twice if they're inevitably going to end up on PS5.
@get2sammyb What ever happened to Biomutant. I have been anticipating that game for a while.
What about Tales of Arise, Blue Protocol, and Granblue Fantasy Re:Link??
@get2sammyb
Insurgency:Sandstorm is tentatively slated for spring 2020 release as far as I know. I'm definitely waiting for this one as I've sunk 180 hours into it on the PC.
First, I need to buy a new PS4.
No date for sniper elite vr yet then ? One reason I wanted the vr and I’m still waiting for a realease date for the game 😕
Sad part is theres not much there for me other than the few obvious ones, dyinglight2 is at the top for me with cyberpunk and TLOU2.
Really jonesing for a good non anime 2d fighter.
@get2sammyb TemTem console release isn't until 2021
@Simon_Fitzgerald Updated, thanks.
@get2sammyb I know it's updated, but I can't believe you reposted the same article from 2017. I can't decide if you're a glutton for punishment or just here to amuse @octane and me.
TLoU2 still not being out is pretty funny, and it got delayed.
I'll be shocked if BG&E2 comes out in 2020 either. They probably scrapped this gen and moved onto next by now.
Dreams is finally releasing this year, fianlly.
I do like the layout though, the way it's broken out and alphabetized, very readable. You can thank quimby for me if he's in charge of the upkeep.
@get2sammyb
Minecraft Duengons in April.
Coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass in April 2020
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/11/minecraft_dungeons_launches_on_nintendo_switch_in_april_next_year
May (Tentative)
Fast & Furious Crossroads (PS4) - May 2020
I was going to make a joke about this needing 9 years of dev time to look like a PS3 game but w/ F&F9 releasing May 22nd in theaters they'll probably release it as is.
What about Biomutant?
I am in for a great March 😀
Division 2: Warlords of NY
Nioh2
Doom
Control: Foundation
What means Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4???
Please help
All of these and i'ts FF7 remake, Tlou 2 and Re3 at some point down the line for me. Although, now the f****n world is ending, maybe I'll get time to play some more games.
No Biomutant?
So many games. So little time.
This year has so many great games I can't wait for
I choose :
1. Moving Out (Retro 80's music ahoy! ) 🤟
2. Spirit of the North
Baldo!??!
What's that!??
Nothing for me until Ghost of Tsushima so backlog time, however I think I'll probably get the Crysis remaster when it pops out soonish.
March was great. Still have a solid 7 months
April
Sakura Wars (PS4)
May
Sword Art Online (PS4) depending on reviews.
(Have John Wick on PC. Solid game)
June
Ghost of Tsushima (PS4)
Fairy tail (Switch)
July
F1 2020 (PS4) 👍🏎🏎🏎👍
September
Cyberpunk (PC)
Fall
The Dark Pictures Anthology (PS4)
Trails of cold Steel 4 (PS4)
Samurai Jack is dope.
I fear that Corona has delayed Yakuza 7 somewhat. Word was there was going to be dual dub so yeah.
These are the games I want next:
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
The Last of Us: Part II
Blacksad: Under the Skin
Maneater
Destroy All Humans
These are games I want at some point:
Borderlands 3: Complete Edition
Catherine: Full Body
Marvel's Avengers
Watch Dogs Legion
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
The Wonderful 101 Remastered
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated
My wallet is gonna get ransacked and ruined
Why is Mafia 2, releasing before Mafia?
All I want is a release date for Digimon Survive 😭
why the hype for yakuza. its going to be strangely made into outdated turn based scenario. how can people who loved the ACTION of the other entries, be able to enjoy this one?
Where the hell is planet coaster?
@Octane This 3 year old thread just isn't the same now that TLOU2 has finally released. In 2020. That I called on Dec 17, 2018. Also Dreams in 2019.
Still waiting on BG&E2. Well actually not waiting, but you know what I mean.
Kingdoms of Amalur is back? I loved that game! But I ran into a bug on ps3 where I couldn't fast travel ever again and so never completed it. If bugs are squashed, graphics improved, more storage for unique looking sets and some optional harder modes are added it will be amazing. More cut scenes wouldn't have gone amiss but you could take that or leave it. Now I shall Google details.
Dunno if it's been said, but GG Strive has been delayed to 2021.
@Jayofmaya I know there's no chance of it happening but I'd love it if they added a voice to the player character. I'm not a fan of the silent protagonist.
@Nem Thanks for informing me of this delay.
@ApostateMage Yeah, it was a bit unpolished but showed good potential. Let's hope they go the extra mile and add all the trimmings like that, as well! Unfortunately, I couldn't find many details as of now. Will have to wait a little bit, I guess. (N)
@get2sammyb Valhalla missing
@get2sammyb I’m I blind where’s assassins creed Valhalla? 17 Nov, 2 days before Cyberpunk 😂
@get2sammyb Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen has already been released in the UK.
Please don't delay Cyber Punk again 🤞🏻
LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning and Gods and Monsters are on my radar.
I'm actually very excited about Star Wars: Squadrons! I've been craving Star Wars games lately, specifically space combat, and the shield/engine management and first-person perspective sounds just what I need. I'm even getting a hankering for other pilot games like Ace Combat and sci-fi mechs like Titanfall and (I wish) Lost Planet.
I am surprised Horizon Forbidden West isn't on this list under TBA.
Utawarerumono: prelude to the fallen has already released for the ps4 (and Vita!).
2021 Just Dance....😆🤪😆🤪😆🤪😆
Persona 5 Scramble is TBC Feb. 2021
& They are saying the PS4 is last gen and dead all over the internet lol But must of us can't even get a PS5.
Ive had a few emails to let me know the ps5 is out by playstation but like any of us can get one with none is stock anywhere and scalpers charging the earth on ebay and stockx.
I'm looking for:
Cybershadow
Balan wonderland
Nier Replicant
Back for Blood
The world end with you 2
Gotham Knights
Howgarts legacy
Vampire the maskarade bloodlines 2
Dragon quest adventures of dai
and hopefully Lost Sould Aside and Babylion fall
@get2sammyb Uh...Sammy you forgot to add Horizon Forbidden West and Kena: Bridge of Spirits which are both cross-generational releases...
@Luna-Harmony They say that with the new iPhone is outdated EVERY year and charge you $1400 for a new one yearly. That's marketing for you lol. Ps4 is not dead yet.
DISCO ELYSIUM for ps4! My most anticipated game
You forgot 2027 first preorder game from Strictly Limited Games
@get2sammyb R-Type Final 2 isn't on the list (it's one of the games I'm really looking forward to coming out - been a massive R-Type fan ever since I spied the original arcade cabinet as a young lad in the 80s).
@get2sammyb
Disco Elysium?? March or April I believe...
Meanwhile on xbox tumbleweed roll's past.
Now all we need is a ps5 to play them on .
@get2sammyb
Maybe a little bit niche in but it would be good to see these on the list
Car Mechanic Simulator 2021
Fishing : North Atlantic
Farming Simulator (2021 or 2022 depending on release window)
2021 and the PS4 is still crushing it....?
Too many good games. Not enough time. As for next couple months only Biomutant and Necromunda are my favourite! Perhaps Stonefly at some point as I'm currently playing Creature in the Well.
Was waiting for Katana zero and Death door. Tbh, lost hope of seeing any Ori titles 😐
Aww yeah, Nerf Legends for me... Also, The Good Life is based off of the British tv show, right? Can't wait to plant some flowers as Tom and get into some dinner time shenanigans with some pigs and the neighbours.
That's a lorra lorrra PS4 games! I will probably buy most of those.
Subscribed to ps now so I decided I'm going to make the games that are eventually leaving a priority to play. Finished Borderlands 3 already so this week I'll be tackling Judgement. Love the Yakuza games, just never got around to the spiritual successor. Still loving it.
You forgot Blue reflection second light coming this Tuesday
@Octane It's starting to not look too good for BG&E2 in 2018. 🤷♂️
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2021/11/rumour-beyond-good-and-evil-2-still-several-years-away
@rjejr Dont worry its a p8ece of garbage always online liveservice game i rather have them kill it off.
Do we have any price details on Among Us yet? I seem to remember we got it on the family's expanding Switch collection for about £5 each (that was on offer though). I know the physical versions are releasing but at what cost over digital?
Warhammer 40k battlesector 2nd dec 2021 on ps4.
february will be a great month
Upcoming PS4 games i like.
@Anti-Matter I assumed at first you had copied the list of games that were instant bargain bin titles.
Stalker April 28th
I'm only truly excited about Digimon Survive and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake tbh.
Everything else either has PS5 versions, or I'm in no hurry to play them.
The fact that almost a decade on PS4 is still getting all these high profile releases over the course of the next few years shows how great of a console it truly is. I have a 5 now but if I was still stuck with the 4 then I would still be happy.
@get2sammyb Crusader Kings 3 TBA. Hopeful for end of this year.
CDPR announced in October that CP2077 would see a current-gen release in Q1 and Witcher 3 in Q2. They're missing on this list.
Feb looks decent, Sifu tops the list.
There's 5 or 6 I'm really interested in. PS4's looking good right now.
Is Sons of the Forest coming to PS4/PS5 on May 20th?
this article is an update from 2017, confusing. Why not make a new one? And where is Fifa 2023? its the only release that never miss the date. Is it legacy edition already?
Exciting stuff
I am excited to play the following 2022 games...
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake (PS4)
Digimon Survive (PS4)
Wouldn’t it be nice if I could finally buy an PlayStation 5? Here in the Netherlands it’s near impossible. 🤯
@BadPlayerOne
It really isn't though. I'm in the Netherlands and over the past months i've alredy bought 3 ps5's (one for myself, one for the missus and one for a friend).
You do have to be a bit active on the restock lists, but it's really not that hard to get one.
If you have no luck with the restock lists and you really want one, try something like tweakers V&A, i see several PS5's on there right now for €550, which is only slightly above the shop price (like 40 euro difference).
Nothing is out this year its absolutely dead & I thought this year would be one of the best in gaming?
